Unlike the New England lighthouses, lights in Cape May and most seacoast towers to   the south were designed with tall towers to raise the light high enough to be seen at sea. The 157-foot tower at Cape May has guided ships along the coast and into Delaware Bay since 1859. The lighthouse is still used by the Coast Guard today.
More than one thousand visitors visit the lighthouses in Cape May. Visitors also go on the top of the lighthouses too. The lighthouses are on the Jersey Shore, which is in Cape May.  Cape May and its lighthouses are in the southern part of New Jersey.  The lighthouses are a great tourist attraction for tourists to visit.  On the top of the lighthouses is a great view of the ocean. You can also see a lot of ships and boats coming to shore too. In the summer it is a journey for the visitors to go to the top of the lighthouse. The visitors like coming to the lighthouses because it's a great get away for their family and themselves.
